January 28, 2022
In December 2011, the idea for nummi was born. Tom and I were at a Thé Dansant at the hockey club and thought it was time for an alternative to WordFeud, preferably something with numbers. Since we always played Rummikub® at home, the plan was soon clear. In January 2012, the app was already ready to be placed in the Apple App Store. To be able to do that properly, we needed a company, so we registered with the Chamber of Commerce. But what do you call your company? Naming is always super difficult, but we wanted something with a wink. In the end, we chose a name inspired by our hockey jersey numbers. After all, Tom was number 5 and I played with number 9. And so 9to5 was born. It was not until several years later that the logo was designed. We are still very happy with that and it suits us perfectly. A robot with the 9 and 5 in binary. A robot that is now life-sized in our office and that we affectionately call Dolly, after Dolly Parton who wrote a well-known song to go with it.
It is now 10 years later and we are a team of 10 people. We are very happy with where we are now. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our current and previous employees for their efforts. Thanks to you we have come this far and we are looking forward to the next 10 years!
Of course we also thank our customers for their trust in us. We are proud of what we have made over the past ten years, and we are very curious what we can develop together with you in the coming years!
Thank you!
